The Natural History Museum is hosting a special one-off evening to celebrate the opening of its new exhibition, Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre.

Meet some of the museum's scientists as they take you on a tour of their remarkable research. Explore the art of conservation as their experts teach you how to look after some of the Museum’s most prized bird specimens. Speak to mammal masters to learn all about bats, which make up 20% of all mammal species worldwide.

Join their space experts to hear about the recent revolutionary Bennu mission and what can be learned from the asteroid sample currently housed at the Museum. Or encounter the pterosaur, the first vertebrate to have evolved powered flight over 288 million years ago.

Alongside this, museumgoers can get up-close and personal with snakes, giant snails and stick insects in a special ethical animal handling experience. Little ones can unleash their inner palaeontologist and uncover fossils of flying creatures.

All this, alongside the Museum’s galleries away from daytime crowds, including the Dinosaur Gallery and the recently reopened Mammals Gallery, and the brand-new headline exhibition, Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre.
