Enjoy three activities - explore the night sky, experience cosmic history, and speak to a NASA scientist.

29 January 2016, 19.00 - 21.00 (arrival time 18.45)
Tickets: £30, Members: £27

Voyage through the Museum's Darwin Centre, stopping at three interactive activities led by our astronomy and planetary experts. Discover cosmic history as you embark on your very own space odyssey, all with a private bar!

Join us in the Museum's Attenborough Studio to investigate fragments of our solar system's asteroid belt and the moon. There will also be a live link-up to scientists at NASA's Johnson Space Center, which holds a range of materials from space including Apollo Moon samples and comet dust. The Museum's Head of Mineralogy Collections, Caroline Smith, will reveal how she studies and looks after our own world-renowned collection.

Peer through a professional telescope and learn about the history and creation of the stars. Our star-gazing experts will give you a glimpse into distant worlds and how they form part of our complex galaxy.

Explore the meteorites station and see some of the most dazzling specimens in the Museum's 5,000-strong collection. You will discover where these remarkable rocks have come from, what they are made of, and what they can tell space scientists about the beginning of our solar system. Hold a 4.5-billion-year-old piece of history in your hands, and have a go at identifying different types of meteorites for yourself.

This event is for those aged over 18.

Booking is required. No refunds will be given.

If you think you may not get here on time please email us at [email protected]. Please be aware that you may miss some of the activities if you arrive late. The event will begin promptly at 19.00. We cannot allow entry into the event after this time, and no refunds will be given to latecomers.

In the event of bad weather, guests will enjoy an indoor version of the star-gazing experience combined with a hands-on orbit activity.
