Discover the history of our solar system with a guided tour of the Museum's fascinating meteorites.
29 January 2016, 18.30 - 19.15, 19.30 - 20.15
Tickets: £15
Meteorites, falling as flaming rocks from the sky, have long held an allure for humans. By studying these ancient space rocks, Museum scientists are now able to piece together the story of the birth of our solar system.
Enjoy a private tour of the galleries, as one of our scientists guides you through the specimens using a personal noise-cancelling headset. You'll learn how these meteorites are being used to study our planetary neighbourhood.
Highlights of the tour include a glimpse of the oldest surviving meteorite found in Britain, and a chance to see some moon rock brought back by Apollo astronauts. You'll also see one of the oldest known specimens – matter that was found inside a meteorite, created billions of years before the birth of our own solar system.
This event is for those aged over 18.
