Description
The Pearly Kings and Queens of London are recognised by their distinctive suits and accessories covered with patterns of mother-of-pearl buttons.
The museum has a number of Pearly outfits and with the annual Pearly Harvest Festival in the Guildhall Yard in late September we thought it a fitting time to spotlight this collection.
The objects on display here exemplify the ornate decorative style of the Pearlies, as well as highlight the strength of the tradition within families as they raise Pearly Princes and Princesses who often later take over their parent’s title.
