Marietta Crichton Stuart recounts the Chartist movement’s campaign for democracy, its huge petitions and the 1848 rally on Kennington Common.

One of its legacies is Kennington Park.

This talk is part of The Kennington Chartist Project, looking at the history of Chartism and celebrating Kennington’s role in the history of protest and democracy.

Light refreshments.

Free, no booking required. £2 optional donation to the Friends of the Durning Library.
