Neil Bright: Borough and the Blitz

This event has finished Took place on: Thursday, 16th Mar 2017

 Free

Join us for a talk by historian Neil Bright about his publication Southwark in the Blitz.

The Borough now nestles in the shadow of the Shard. The modernisation around London Bridge means the area looks completely different to those dark days of 75 years ago.

Located on the river, opposite the City of London and not too far from Docklands, the Borough was always going to be in the front line during the Blitz.

This talk illustrates, with then and now photographs how the Borough and its environs suffered. Out of the rubble of the Blitz came tragic stories and of course, heroes like PC Bill Keery and 16 year old Jack Dabbs emerged. Their stories will be brought back to life in this talk and of course, the evidence of the Blitz is still out there.

Neil will be signing copies of his publication 'Southwark in the Blitz' after the talk.

This is a free event but please do register your interest.
