Join us for a series of talks led by Southwark cathedral historian Guy Rowston in which we will uncover the stories of Southwark and the cathedral at its heart.
In the first week, we will explore the Roman settlement, the medieval priory and the founding of St Thomas’s Hospital. We will hear of a royal wedding, race riots and the brothels of Bankside. The Inns of the Borough and the pilgrimage trade that fueled them will be examined. Finally we will end on the closure of the Priory.
