From dark matter and energy, to the latest discoveries about gravitational waves that ripple at the edge of our galaxy, a new wave of scientists and theologians are embracing what these discoveries can explain about the fabric of our world.
We debate whether scientists are simply debunking the teachings of religion, or instead making breakthroughs that are furthering the way we understand a miraculous universe.
The panel includes:
- Professor Mohamed El-Gomati OBE, Professor of Electronics at the University of York, who actively promotes the role of Muslims in science through the Manchester-based Foundation for Science, Technology & Civilisation, of which he is Deputy Chair. He has promoted a wider understanding of the role that Muslims have played in science through the ages. Mohamed El-Gomati is also respected as a religious advisor to a number of British universities and charities, and works to bridge cultural and religious divides.
- Revd Dr Kathryn Pritchard, based at the Archbishops’ Council of the Church of England and working with the University of Durham. Pritchard is Project Manager and Research Fellow for the Equipping Christian Leaders in an Age of Science project.
