From robots in the workplace to artificial intelligence which increasingly underpins all aspects of modern life, the science of computing and robotics have unlocked new frontiers of discovery and innovation.
But when we can create sentient robots which perform complicated medical procedures and defeat world champion Go players, does this mean scientists share a responsibility with God for their creations?
A panel of robotics experts and futurologists debate the ethical challenges of creating artificial intelligence, including Murray Shanahan, author of numerous books on robotics and Professor of Cognitive Robotics at Imperial College London; Anab Jain, co-founder and director of Superflux, an Anglo-Indian design practice dedicated to exploring the ways in which 'emerging technologies interface with the environment and everyday life'; and Dr Kathleen Richardson, Senior Research Fellow in the Ethics of Robotics and leader of the Campaign Against Sex Robots.
