Discover the lesser-known life of P G Wodehouse...
Had Wodehouse died in the early 1920's he would not have been remembered as an author, but as the first great lyricist of the American musical.
In fact, exactly 100 years ago Wodehouse had five shows running simultaneously on Broadway.
Sir Edward Cazalet, Wodehouse’s grandson and closest living relative, shares some memories of “Plum” as an introduction to a discussion of Wodehouse’s life, lyricism and wit with expert Wodehouseans including journalist and author of Wodehouse: A Life, Robert McCrum, and singer Hal Cazalet, Wodehouse’s great-grandson and expert in the field of his music and lyrics.
This discussion will be accompanied by live performances of a selection of Wodehouse’s songs.
An afternoon of music, discussion and performance to celebrate the lesser-known life of P G Wodehouse as featured in the archive currently on loan to the British Library.
