S I Martin is an acclaimed author, historian, journalist and teacher, specialising in Black British history and literature.
For the last 400 years the growth and development of Southwark's Black population has offered fascinating insights into cultural changes in London and throughout the country. This illustrated presentation by S I Martin introduces key players - from Mary Seacole to Marcus Garvey - and demonstrates how they impacted on the borough we know today.
There is wheelchair access to the library and a disabled toilet. There are two disabled parking bays opposite the library.
