Ten weeks, eight regions, and a whole lot of eating – exploring Japanese cuisine

This event has finished Took place on: Wednesday, 16th Nov 2016

 Free

Experienced food writer and chef Celia Plender will be at Asia House 16 November to discuss regional Japanese food, using insights gained
from a ten week exploration of the country.

After being presented with Asia House’s Yan-Kit So Memorial Award for Food Writers on Asia in 2015, Celia used the Award’s travel bursary to rekindle her curiosity for Japanese food, visiting eight regions across the country. From the oldest okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka to the highest tea plantations in the country, Celia will discuss stories, recipes and pictures of various home cooks, chefs, producers and food experts she met along the way.

A drinks reception and tasting of food made from recipes Celia collected will follow the talk.
