The City of London has commemorated Lord Mayor’s Day with lavish spectacle for 800 years. Join civic pageantry specialist Dr Tracey Hill on a walk that brings to life the City’s extravagant celebrations. You will hear about pageantry, music, speeches, and fireworks as we retrace the steps of Lord Mayor John Leman’s inauguration, which took place 400 years ago almost to the day.
Additional info: Meet at Guildhall Library at 4pm for orientation and briefing; the walking tour will take until 5.45pm, at which point we will return to the Guildhall for refreshments and to examine some 17th-century books and documents relating to the Lord Mayor’s Show.
Refunds will only be given if places are cancelled more than 48hours prior to an event (minus the booking fee) or if an event is cancelled by GHL.
