‘Foul as it is, hell itself is made fouler by the presence of King John.’
This event will look at the life and reign of King John, who died 800 years ago, in October 1216.
Why was he seen as such a failure? Why was he forced to grant Magna Carta? Was he unlucky, misguided or just plain bad?
Professor David Carpenter, Professor Stephen Church and Dr Marc Morris will discuss the man, his life, his world and his reputation, with plenty of opportunities for questions from the audience.
