Free FreeNurse Edith Cavell was executed on 12th October 1915, by a German firing squad during World War I, for her role in assisting over 200 soldiers to escape from occupied Belgium.
On the anniversary of Edith Cavell's death I am leading a short 45 minute, guided walking tour of the grounds of the Royal London Hospital, East London, where Edith Cavell trained and worked as a nurse. This is a fund raising walk for the Cavell Nurses Trust, named in her memory, provides financial support for nurses, midwives, student and retired nurses, and it’s nice to see that people who are so used to giving are able to get support when they need help.
