Put the busy city behind you and escape the noise and pollution to one of the jewels in London's crown.
As unique as anywhere in London, we'll explore winding streets and cobbled lanes, experience breathtaking views and become obsorbed by the history, appearance and ambiance of one of the most atmospheric destinations London has to offer.
From the house which is said to have inspired P.L. Travers during his writing of Mary Poppins, the home of Robert Louis Stevenson who wrote the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and the inspiration for J.M Barrie's Peter Pan to name but three.
From a variety of historical figures ranging from Charles Dickens, Dr Samuel Johnson, Sir Winston Churchill, Dame Judy Dench, John Constable, George Gilbert Scott, Bram Stoker and even the Spice Girls.
We venture through the outer edges of the heath (weather permitting), visit one of the oldest local jails in London, a Catholic church, haunt of Charles de Gaulle and the churchyard which inspired Dracula through to Rosalind Franklin, the often forgotten woman who played a cruial part in the discovery of DNA.
From the history of Hampstead and it's fashionable iron rich drinking water, the walk will leave you wanting more and eager to visit the myriad of establishments, and museums which are highlighted throughout.
There is certainly more in Hampstead than you think, and this walk does its best to justify why Hampstead is the true jewel in the crown and why it continues to draw in people from all around, as it has done for hundreds of years and will continue to do so, to discover the hidden and secret treasure that it is.
