At 61 years old, Flinders Petrie tried to sign up to fight in 1914 but was turned away. This interactive talk explores what this archaeologist did during the war and what was happening in his beloved Egypt. The talk gives background to this Autumn’s theme of Archaeology and Espionage a research project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Presented by Dr. Debbie Challis from UCL Museums and Collections.
