Video games are everywhere. Democracy is changing. How will these trends combine? This event brings together game designers, campaigners, professionals in the video games industry and academics, to discuss the role that video games and the video games industry can play in shaping modern democracy.
Video games are already used for electoral campaigning and political education, for propaganda, resistance or dissent. So what is the role of video games in the democratic process? How should video games represent democracy? Can video games facilitate democratic practices and communities that transcend national boundaries? Should democratic responsibility affect the way games are commissioned, designed, or reported in games journalism? Is there a distinction between 'serious' and commercial games in terms of their potential impact?
