The population of our major cities is swelling and it’s not just our capital that is facing a well-documented housing shortage. With government support for a ‘Northern Powerhouse’ intensifying urbanisation in the North, how we densify our cities is of national concern.
Building tall is one solution to the housing crisis yet it can be unpopular and expensive. This event brings together planners, policy makers and urban strategists to examine city densification within the framework of traditional street patterns.
Speakers include:
- Susan Emmett, director residential research at Savills
- Alex Lifschutz, director of Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands
- Julia Moulder, executive director of development at Catalyst
- Dr Riette Oosthuizen, partner, planning at HTA Design LLP
- Chair: Lewis Blackwell, curator of the exhibition, Re/making The Street
This event is free to attend but booking is essential. Breakfast will be served from 8.30am and the talk will begin at 9.00am and finish at 10.15am.
