Grim and Gruesome Smithfield

This event has finished Took place on: Sunday, 26th Jun 2016

As the nights grow and the chill begins to gather, the dark shadows creep up the ancient walls and through the silent alleys and streets of the City.  Something has been awoken and is stirring in the city tonight and you can feel its eerie presence coming forth to chill the very blood of those who dare to venture close to it.

Those brave enough to venture into the heart of the ancient city will be exposed to a walk which delves into some of the most haunted places in London and experience the stories of the phantoms which lurk behind the ancient tombstones and skeletal remains.

From the chilling graveyard where the She-wolf of France haunts the grounds, terrifying night-watch men with her spectral guise to the demon-dog from hell ready to draw his victims away in the dead of night.  The ancient church bell which would sound the death toll of convicts before their slow march to the gallows and the mass burnings of innocent victims of the bloody Queen of England, and the terrifying ghost of the old red light district of the City at Cock Lane.

Not only will we hear about the terrifying coffin lift of one of the oldest hospital's in western Europe but also see the site where the Scottish hero - William Wallace - was hung, drawn and quartered

before slipping away onto an ancient churchyard where the ghost of its 900 year old founder still walks the corridors of this ancient monastery to this day and the perverted ghosts which stalk innocent barmaids at the local tavern on a road which men would catch their final drink before being lead to the executioners block.

All of this and more on a night with chills and thrills told through an entertaining to ensure you remember some of the greatest real life ghost stories that the ancient city has to offer and will leave you dying for more.

This walk is suitable for children, however parent descretion is advised due to the content of some of the stories told.  Please contact me for further details.

Extra care should be taken in the churchyards as lighting is low, your guide will have a torch should you require it.  Please bear in mind there are uneven surfaces and steps during this walk, and may be muddy in some churchyards dependant on the weather.

Please dress appropriately based on the weather.

If you do not want to pay in advance and pay in person, you can, but you must email me to let me know you're planning on attending and for me to confirm that there are still places available.
