Free FreeBrixton Windmill is open to the public for guided tours from April to October, usually on the second weekend of every month, plus a few extra dates.
On our guided tours you can visit the 'two mills in one' and hear the fascinating story of the Ashby family. You will also see the original wind-powered machinery and find out about how it was once used to make stoneground flour.
We also offer guided walks of the surrounding area on Brixton Hill on most Sundays when the windmill is open.
Open access visits
If you don't manage to book a guided tour on our open days (see above), you can still visit up to the first floor, where you will see some of the internal workings of the windmill. Hear the fascinating story of the family who once owned it and see the steam-powered millstone, which was installed in 1902.
