A talk by Simon Majaro to explain how a violin is constructed and with plenty of examples of work at various stages

PROFESSOR SIMON MAJARO MBE, Hon. ARAM, Hon.ATL

Founded the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust, together with wife, Pamela, in 1997 with the mission of attracting children and young people to chamber music. Both Simon and Pamela were awarded MBE for their charitable work.

After attending a violin-making summer school in Cambridge developed a love for making string instruments. Following that inspiring summer course he spent one day a week for 25 years working in that Lutier Workshop making 14 instruments. They are all copies of very famous instruments by the old masters. A few of his instruments are being played regularly by professional musicians. All these instruments now belong to CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust.

Career

Until recently Professor of International Business Strategy at the Cranfield School of Management. Also Director of the Cranfield Centre for Creativity.

Director of Strategic Management Learning - organisers of Strategy Search Workshops for top management. In that capacity has had considerable influence on the strategic direction of many companies throughout the world.

Has lectured regularly in many Business Schools and training establishments throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Regular contributor to the literature in the field of Corporate Planning, Business Strategy, International Marketing and the Management of Creativity and Innovation.
