In this talk Dr Afua Cooper will be sharing her research on African-Canadian history, with particular reference to the role of Afro-Canadians in the era of slavery and emancipation in the 18th and 19th century Black Atlantic. If time permits, she will also read from her book of poems, Copper Women, published in 2006.
The evening will begin with a short talk by Sean Creighton on ‘Connections between Black British and Black Canadian Histories’.
