This event has finished Took place on: Wednesday, 11th Nov 2015

 Free

William Somers instantly won Henry VIII over with his wicked sense of humour and was offered a place as the King’s court jester in 1525.

For the next twenty years Henry was accompanied by Somers for better or worse. But Somers’ jokes often went too far, he was dared to call Princess Elizabeth a “bastard”, and had to go into hiding for a short time after Henry threatened his life.

Join this talk as we explore the life and folly of Britain’s best known fool.
