The Devil was an imminent figure for the Early Modern Londoner. Puritan thinkers characterised the temptation of ordinary English citizens as a very real battle between humanity and Satan. Learn about the mechanism of possession in Early Modern Protestantism, the role of sin, the stories of the devil that would have been heard from the pulpits of parish churches, including the exorcist's in joke behind Jonson's choice of alias for his demon protagonist Pug.
Lectures start at 7.30pm lasting approximately 60 minutes with a short Q+A
