The Last Man On Earth | Live Electronica Score Featuring Animat

What better way to celebrate bonfire night than with a musical performance set from Sheffield electronica duo Animat, who put blazing new spin on a Vincent Price cult classic with the ambient and atmospheric soundtrack to 1964's The Last Man on Earth.

For this performance, a digitally re-mastered widescreen coloured version of the cult classic will be screened, and we welcome Victoria Price, daughter of the legendary actor, who will introduce the film.

Doors open at 7pm, show starts 8.40pm.

ABOUT ANIMAT

Animat are a duo based in Sheffield who specialise in developing and performing new live/DJ soundtracks to existing cult films, and over the last 10 years have played live at cinemas, festivals and other venues throughout the UK including Glasgow and Leeds Film Festivals, Sensoria in Sheffield and two events at BFI Southbank in London. They have released music on the Big Chill, Dubmission and Bloodsugar labels, appeared on numerous compilations, remixed tracks for Pitch Black, Banco de Gaia and Deep Dive Corp, and had music used in multimedia projects at Tate Britain and New York's Leverhouse Gallery. Films that have successfully performed with the support and permission of the directors and distributors have included Dark Star (John Carpenter), Belleville Rendezvous (Sylvain Chomet), Tuvalu (Veit Helmer) and The Straight Story (David Lynch). In 2010, Animat created a new soundtrack to The Last Man on Earth, originally at the suggestion of Grimmfest in Manchester where they performed it at the festival opening.
