Rooms evocatively lit with an array of candles will transport you back into the Victorian era at our exclusive evening opening. Experience Dickens’s beautifully restored former home just as the author would have seen it, with flickering lights illuminate the elegance of the beautifully furnished interiors, the desk where Dickens penned his works and the shadowy chambers of the Victorian basement.

Dickens often wrote into the night by candlelight and was fascinated by the effects created by flames. Surround yourself in what the Victorian writer called ‘a ruddy, homely… glow’ and experience just what it was like to be in a Victorian home after sunset.

Back in the present day, our unique candlelit Library Bar will be at your disposal, with piles of Dickensian tomes to browse by flickering candlelight and live acoustic guitar by classical artist Facio.
