Since 1995 almost 2000 planets have been found orbiting stars other than the Sun - extrasolar planets. This public lecture will describe how these planets have been found, what types of different planetary systems have been detected, and how the planets discovered so far tells us about how planetary systems form and evolve.
Refreshments and nibbles will be served afterwards.
Prof Richard Nelson is the Head of the Astronomy Unit in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Queen Mary.
