Dr Mark Merrony, Lecturer, University of Oxford, is a classical archaeologist. His main area of interest is Roman art and how it was adapted in an architectural setting for ideological reasons. As well as his academic post he is editor-in-chief of Minerva Magazine and director of the Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins. He is also director of Ariadne Galleries, London and New York, where his role is primarily research based.
This lecture focuses on the ancient art market, collecting, museums and the academic sphere, with examples related to Israel and its environs.
