Sloth: What's in a name?

This event has finished Took place on: Saturday, 10th Oct 2015

 Free

In celebration of National Poetry Day, the last Authors for Animals event for 2015 takes place on a Saturday afternoon starting with a tour of the Rainforest Enclosure with a ZSL mammals keeper. See if you can spot the sloths Leander and Marilyn, with their baby Jeff. They'll probably be doing what they do best - resting.

For this event ZSL London Zoo is collaborating with Hubbub, a group of researchers examining the concept of rest at the Hub at Wellcome Collection. Poet Tamarin Norwood will give her take on sloths and English Literature Lecturer Dr Michael Greaney will ask, 'Would you like to be described as a sloth?' and will discuss the history of the concept - in humans and animals. The ZSL keeper will answer all your questions about sloths. Are they really lazy or is that something of a myth?

The event will be chaired by broadcaster and writer, Claudia Hammond.
