Visitors to our first event of its kind will get to experience life as it was for residents of the Home over 150 years ago. Victorian characters will give a fascinating insight into life for the dogs arriving at the ‘Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs’, as it was then known.
There will also be the opportunity to enjoy a tour of our kennels and cattery, gain a glimpse into life as a stray dog on the streets in the 1860s, have your photograph taken with 'Queen Victoria', enjoy our accordion-playing musician and try your luck at some of the games from yesteryear.
A hearty plate of pie and mash will be available at lunch time as well as a selection of ‘old favourites’ at a sweet shop stand. There will be a contest to find the best victoria sponge and visitors will get a piece of the action choosing from a range of our tempting treats to enjoy for themselves.
Battersea's standard admission charges will apply of £2 for adults, £1 for children aged 3-15 years old and concessions and under-threes are free.
The Victorian Day on Saturday 3 October will be from 10.30am until 3pm.
