Le Roi Soleil: Party like it's 1699

It’s been 300 years since the death of the Sun King and the Wallace Collection are hosting an evening of courtly decadence inspired by Louis XIV.

Think perfumed- scent tours, mask-making workshops (courtesy of Alternative London), mirror installations and Baroque and roll. We’re filling the building with discussions and experiences that conjure up the sumptuous settings and performative spaces of Versailles.

From the 1670’s onwards Louis XIV’s rule defined the pattern for every other European dynasty. In short, where the Sun King went other monarchs’ followed. Listen, wander, absorb and discover this original seventeenth century trendsetter.

In keeping with the evening’s distinctively French flavour we have transformed our restaurant into a Parisian café complete with street performers and gipsy swing. This is a special late-night event with a bar running until 11pm.
