A 19th century house in Canonbury Square has been recreated and restored to its late Georgian appearance.
The top three storeys of the five-story house at 47 Canonbury Square were demolished in 1936 – according the The Squares of Islington by society vice-president Mary Cosh, this was done to evict tenants.
Gary Butler of Butler Hegarty Architects will describe how his firm rescued, restored and recreated the house. Original bricks were cleaned and reused, and the flank wall was rebuilt complete with bricked-up window spaces.
