Battle of Britain Archive Viewing

This event has finished Took place on: Saturday, 12th Sep 2015

 Free

Join us this September for some special archive viewing sessions with our Curatorial Team. As part of the Royal Air Force Museum’s commemoration marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, you will be able to see artefacts from the archive, which are rarely on display to the public.

View the pilot’s flying log book of Wing Commander Eric James Brindley Nicolson - Fighter Command’s only Victoria Cross recipient of the Second World War - and listen to a recording of Nicolson recounting his experience during the action for which he received the award.

Diaries, letters and photographs will also provide an insight about the experiences of those who served in the Royal Air Force during the Battle, on the ground, as well as in the air. We will also be highlighting how this most significant aerial battle has been commemorated since taking place in 1940. A copy of the Battle of Britain film script will be amongst those items on display

This event will be held in the museum boardroom on 12 and 13 September at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm.
