Tracy Borman, Joint Chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces, is the author of a new book on the life, loves and legacy of Thomas Cromwell, one of the most powerful figures in Tudor history.
The man behind the dissolution of the monasteries and the execution of Anne Boleyn, Cromwell is often portrayed as a Machiavellian schemer in love with power. But he was also a loving husband and father, a witty and generous host, and a loyal friend and servant.
Tracy Borman reviews his reputation and asks who was the real Cromwell?
