Join Local History Library & Archive manager Patricia Dark to explore the First World War through the eyes of Southwark's tommies, using photographs, newpaper cuttings, and letters from the borough's archive collections.
A free talk that will dig into Southwark's archival collections to explore stories of the borough's First World War soldiers.
World War disrupted the lives of every family in Southwark. The war effort drew men away from their peacetime lives to the front lines; those left behind had to keep the home front running while waiting for news of a reunion. For some families, that reunion never came: for others, the war left indelible marks.
