A new pond is about to open behind the British Library in the King’s Cross development site, while plans are afoot for a floating bath at Temple Stairs on the Embankment.
Why the resurgence in outdoor swimming? Join Caitlin Davies, author of Downstream, a new history and celebration of swimming in the Thames, for a panel discussion on urban swimming past, present, and future.
Panelists include Ness Knight, who in 2013 became the first woman to swim the length of the non-tidal Thames, Anna Strongman from Argent developers who will talk about the new King's Cross Pond Club, and Chris Romer-Lee, co-founder of the Thames Baths Project.
Before the event there will also be a chance to see a rare 1595 swimming manual, The Art of Swimming, in the Treasures of the British Library gallery
