Dr Richard Barnett, author of The Sick Rose, will explore the connections between art, anatomy and medicine in an age of revolution.
The Sick Rose - described by Will Self in the Guardian as 'superbly erudite and lucid' - is the first instalment of a new collaboration between Wellcome Collection and Thames & Hudson, drawing on the Wellcome Library's remarkable collection of historical medical images (and including a number from the Barts archive).
Richard studied medicine in London before becoming a historian, and has taught at the universities of Cambridge and London. He is one of the first Wellcome Trust Engagement Fellows, has made many appearances on British and US television and radio, and his books include Medical London: City of Diseases, City of Cures.
