World War One – the Great War, the war to end all wars. This Blue Badge Guide led walk outlines the causes behind this conflict, takes you to some of the buildings that played a role and describes some of the key characters involved . The walk explains how the mechanics and tactics of warfare changed in what was the first war to be staged on an industrial level. Also a look at social effects of the conflict on the home front and how it changed society, and the historic implications of the unprecedented Christmas truce that broke out in several sections of the Front.
