Free FreeChristmas Eve 2014 sees the 250th anniversary of the publication of The Castle of Otranto, a story written, Walpole declared, ‘in spite of rules, critics, and philosophers’, and which changed the course of prose fiction.
To celebrate Otranto’s 250th birthday, Michael Snodin, Chairman of the Strawberry Hill Trust, and Fiona Robertson, Horace Walpole Professor of English Literature at St Mary's University, invite you to a special anniversary lecture followed by drinks and canapes in the Gallery at Strawberry Hill House.
The lecture will be given by Nick Groom, Professor of English at the University of Exeter, whose new edition of The Castle of Otranto for Oxford University Press will be launched at this event
