As the year’s shortest day approaches, join the Isis Education Centre team for a stroll to look at the seasonal folklore, traditions and feasts that have developed to sustain us through winter’s darkest days.
Queen Victoria and her consort Prince Albert introduced many of the traditions we recognise today and we’ll find out how on this walk. You will also learn about some traditions which stretch back over the centuries to pagan beliefs, where people were looking for ways of brightening the lean times.
