Lord of Strange Deaths: the life and work of Sax Rohmer, creator of arch-villain Fu Manchu

Sax Rohmer (A S Ward, 1883-1959) created one of the world's most notorious fictional villains, the fiendish Dr Fu Manchu. A hugely popular writer in his day, Rohmer also produced a series of exotic occult thrillers.

In this event, featuring Phil Baker (author of biographies of D Wheatley, A O Spare and W Burroughs), Antony Clayton (author of Decadent London) and Gary Lachman (author of many studies of the occult, philosophy and mysticism), Rohmer's life and work life will be examined.
