By ship, train, road and aeroplane, posters have encouraged us to travel – with images as memorable as the destinations they portray. Transport companies competed to entice an ever-growing customer base, with an increasing appetite for leisure and pleasure, to expand their travel horizons. In the 1920s and 30s, Art Deco posters became streamlined expressions of speed, elegance and modernity.
