Free Free60 years ago, on 10 December 1954, Cutty Sark arrived in her new permanent berth in Greenwich. The ship was brought to Greenwich as an icon of the bygone era of sail and a memorial to the Merchant Navy. To mark the event, we are hosting a special tea party and invite you to share your memories of the ship with us.
Afternoon tea, parlour games and lively conversation will be on offer as we talk about what Cutty Sark means to Greenwich, and why this ship is worth preserving. We would love to hear your memories of Cutty Sark from the last 60 years – especially, but not exclusively, if you remember the ship’s arrival and the subsequent restoration and royal opening.
It is free to take part, but participants are advised this event is an oral history project, and conversations will be captured as a record of the project.
