600 Years of Venereal Disease in Art

This event has finished Took place on: Wednesday, 19th Nov 2014

 Free

Dr Christopher Ramsey will be talking about representations of venereal disease in art.

Chris studied malaria immunology for his PhD before qualifying as a medic in Bristol, where he now works as a medical microbiologist.

Chris will explore ideas that artistic representations of venereal disease can reflect changing attitudes towards biology, medicine and public health, and that art has been used as a tool in the manipulation of societal views on gender, religion and Empire since the Fifteenth Century.

Join us from 6pm for a 7pm start at the Old King’s Head, near London Bridge station.

As usual, the event is free, but we have a whip-round to cover expenses.
