The annual Imberbus service running through an abandoned village in the middle of an MoD firing range is due to take place on Saturday 22nd August, and the formal timetable has been released.
The route, 23A will be using at least 7 former London Transport Routemaster buses (and a few modern ones) to provide a bus service approximately every 30 minutes from Warminster Station to Imber.
Important features about this year’s timetable include:
- Departures at least every 30 minutes from Warminster Station to Imber from 9.40am onwards;
- Buses serving Tilshead, West Lavington, Market Lavington, New Zealand Farm Camp and Brazen Bottom every hour;
- Journeys running beyond Tilshead once again to the small village of Chitterne.
As usual, all buses will connect at the interchange point at Gore Cross so that passengers can easily travel to/from all points on the network.
There will be all-day ticket at a cost of £10 per adult, with up to 3 children being allowed to accompany each adult for £1 each. However, ordinary bus fares will also be available and so if you just wish to travel from Warminster to visit the 16th century St Giles’ Church at Imber (which will be open specially on this date), you can purchase an ordinary single ticket for just £2 each way.
As in previous years, Imberbus will operate as an ordinary local bus service, so there is no need to pre-book or pay in advance – just turn up and pay the conductor on the bus in cash.
